3rd Coast Cycles

3rd Coast Cycles operates along Chicago's Lake Shore Drive, close to the lakefront riding path. Its activities include bicycle rentals, repairs, tours, and sales, with a strong connection to the riders and families using Chicago's waterfront routes.

Quick trailside help is a recurring part of the customer accounts. One cyclist recalls a broken Presta valve being corrected in minutes, while others mention air, flat-tire repairs, and adjustments during a ride. The rental operation includes bicycles fitted to different riders and options such as trailers for children, making the shop relevant to family outings as well as solo trips.

Owner Mike appears in a memorable account involving a family whose child was injured after a crash on a rented bicycle from another business. According to that family, he made workspace available after closing so they could attend to the child. The shop also receives requests for assembly, tune-ups, and some e-bike or scooter-related work.

Customer experiences with pricing, equipment condition, and service have varied, so the original record is not uniformly positive. What makes 3rd Coast Cycles distinctive is its location and combination of rentals with practical help near a busy urban trail.
