Elk City Cycles

Elk City Cycles has a distinct place in Charleston's West Side cycling community. Its Tennessee Avenue store represents Giant, Liv, Momentum and Yeti, and has also stocked Santa Cruz electric mountain bikes including the Heckler and Bullit. Riders looking for gravity-focused equipment will find a shop involved in downhill racing, with a team that travels to events from Snowshoe to Windrock.

The mechanical counter handles everyday needs as well as the demands of serious mountain biking. Examples include same-day fender installation, flat repairs for travelers and careful preparation of a heavy e-bike for long-distance shipment. Staff member Chris is particularly associated with secure bike packing. In addition to bicycles, the adjoining skate shop offers a sizable selection of decks, including boards from West Virginia's Apartment Skateboards label.

Walk-in riders are generally part of the shop's daily rhythm when the team is not away racing. Free curbside parking is available around the block. Electric-bike owners can inquire about work on their exact system, while skaters can browse clothing and hardware independently of the cycling department.
