High Gear Bike Shop

High Gear Bike Shop has operated from East Sheldon Street in Prescott since 1976, serving the Prescott and Tri-City area for the better part of five decades. The shop carries Trek and Cannondale bicycles, and a shop cat greets visitors — a small detail that says a lot about the atmosphere. Staff members Cindy and Ellie are known for patient, knowledgeable help without the sales-pressure feel of bigger stores.

The service bench turns bikes around quickly: a tubeless tire that would not seat was sorted fast, and a last-minute repair got a rider ready before a deadline. The walls are decorated with cycling memorabilia, and the relaxed vibe keeps the shop feeling like a community hub rather than a transaction counter. A couple of negative experiences — a flat-tire repair that did not hold and an electrical-system dispute — show the shop is not immune to the occasional miss.

The East Sheldon Street location sits in central Prescott, easy to reach from the surrounding Quad-City communities. For riders who want a long-established local shop with a friendly bench, High Gear has held the Sheldon Street corner since the seventies.
