REI - Cary

The Cary location of REI brings bicycle maintenance into a larger outdoor retail experience on Walnut Street. Customers shopping for camping gear, technical clothing, or travel equipment can also visit the in-store bike shop for help with a conventional or electric bicycle. Parts and accessories are available through the same department, connecting routine mechanical needs with the rest of the co-op's selection.

The service counter handles work such as tire and tube replacement, adjustments, and maintenance on bicycles and e-bikes. Technician Jim is a name that appears in customer experiences, with riders appreciating patient explanations and practical help understanding a repair. The shop provides a local option for bike owners who want to discuss a problem face to face and arrange work without dealing with a mail-order service process.

REI Cary is especially convenient for riders who already rely on the co-op for outdoor gear. Cycling may be only one part of the wider store, but its workshop gives that department a role beyond retail. For people in the Cary area, the branch combines bicycle upkeep, replacement components, and familiar outdoor products in one accessible shopping location.
