REI - Columbia

REI Columbia brings bicycle maintenance into the co-op's larger outdoor store on Dobbin Road. The in-store workshop services mountain, road, hybrid, and electric bicycles, while the retail floor carries equipment for cycling and many other outdoor activities. It is a convenient option for riders who need mechanical help alongside everyday gear.

The bike team has handled small problems without turning them into major service visits. One customer had a chain reconnected during a walk-in stop, while another received individual attention and practical help. A technician also came outside to examine a newly purchased bicycle and discuss how a child-carrying trailer could be attached.

REI's service program includes tune-ups, custom repairs, inspections, and estimates, with membership benefits applying to shop services. Those options let cyclists begin with an assessment before deciding whether the bike needs a simple adjustment or more substantial work.

Serving Columbia and the wider Howard County area, the store pairs a general outdoor shopping experience with technicians who work on a variety of bicycles. Its e-bike servicing makes it relevant to assisted cycling, with an emphasis on bicycle maintenance and outdoor gear.
