Blue Heron Bikes

Blue Heron Bikes is a Berkeley bicycle shop on Gilman Street particularly interested in cargo, folding, and other practical transportation bikes. That Gilman Street focus includes folding, cargo, and commuting configurations for everyday transportation needs.

The shop is known for stocking unusual parts that larger stores do not carry, and for knowledgeable explanations that help riders understand their options. Staff steer shoppers away from unnecessary purchases, recommending only what a bike actually needs.

Services include tune-ups, maintenance, and accessory installation — one job had the shop installing a wheelchair flag on a bike, illustrating the practical problem-solving the staff applies. The Gilman Street location serves West Berkeley commuters and families.

For riders who use a bike as transportation rather than sport, Blue Heron Bikes offers a shop that understands cargo hauling, folding, and daily utility — and respects the customer's wallet. E-bike service covers both the electrical system and the mechanical components, keeping assisted commuter bikes dependable year-round.
