The New Wheel - Oakland

The New Wheel's Oakland location brings the company's electric-bicycle sales and service approach to Leimert Boulevard in the East Bay. The shop stocks a curated range of e-bikes for commuting, cargo hauling, and recreational riding, and test rides let shoppers compare models on real streets before committing.

Staff are described as patient and low-pressure, taking time to explain motor systems, battery range, and sizing without steering buyers toward the most expensive option.

The service department handles assembly, tune-ups, and repairs for e-bikes, and the store considers trade-ins for riders upgrading from a conventional bike. Accessories — locks, racks, lights, and bags — are stocked to complete the setup in a single visit.

For Oakland riders curious about electric bikes, the Leimert Boulevard location offers a neighborhood alternative to big-box retailers: knowledgeable help, real test rides, and a service bench that stands behind the bikes it sells. The store's layout encourages hands-on comparison, with multiple models charged and ready for back-to-back test rides around the neighborhood.
