Walt's Cycle

Walt's Cycle is one of Sunnyvale's longstanding independent bicycle shops, serving South Bay riders since 1953. Its broad inventory reflects how many different ways people use bicycles, from a child's first ride to commuting, recreational cruising, and more specialized cycling.

Road, mountain, BMX, hybrid, tandem, and cruiser bikes are part of the lineup, alongside adult tricycles and even unicycles. The store has carried Trek, Raleigh, Electra, Haro, Redline, and other brands, with E-Mazing electric bicycles adding an e-bike option. A full-service workshop handles flat repairs, tune-ups, and extensive overhauls, while the parts and tool selection supports riders who prefer to do some maintenance themselves.

Customers often mention staff who explain mechanical problems clearly and work through them without unnecessary complication. There have also been isolated complaints about children's-bike tryouts and tire repairs, so not every visit has been alike. For local riders, Walt's distinctive strength is its wide-ranging bicycle knowledge and inventory, built over many decades rather than around one short-lived trend or category.
